Halloween Party!

This year our ward decided to have a Halloween party rather than Trunk or Treat. I was a bit disappointed when I heard but was pleasantly surprised at how much fun it actually was. The kids and I had a good time plus I didn't have to chase Veronica around the church parking lot all night long. (BTW- the kids seem to be almost 100% back to normal.)

Here are some pre-Halloween party pics. Veronica insisted on wearing her costume all day long.

David: Mom, I can't believe you put me in this costume...I will never speak to you again.
Mom: But you look so darn cute, I just want to eat you up.

Veronica asked me to put mascara on her and sparklys in her hair.

Veronica's little friends.

Lana the kitty with her mom Sheena and Veronica the bumble bee and David the HOTDOG.

Teething, flu shot oh my!

It has been a miserable last few weeks with David, he has been going through major teething discomfort. At first we thought it was one bottom tooth. Once the bottom tooth poked through we found that his two top teeth were just about to come in as well. Needless to say, it's been miserable and now he is the proud owner of 3 teeth. The top ones aren't all the way through, just the bottoms, they look like grains of rice actually.
So, Veronica had her check up at the pediatrician where she was anticipating receiving shots. She kept asking the nurse if she was going to shoot her. Anyway, she took the shots pretty good, she yelled ouch but didn't cry. It was when they were drawing the blood out of her finger when she started to cry. It didn't last long because I promised her fruit snacks when we got home.
The day after her super awesome birthday party, actually at 2am, Veronica was screaming and crying. We go to check on her and she had puked all over herself and her bed. We thought it was just because of all the candy she had eaten but realized that she just kept puking. She puked for 2 days straight. It is pretty sad to see this little fireball of energy so subdued and quiet. Can it get any better? Nope! Sunday night, after Veronica puked all day, David started to cry. So I go to check on him and he too had puked all over himself. I cleaned him up and was hoping he just ate too much and had to let it out. To no avail. He spent most of the night dry heaving and the better part of Monday throwing everything up. Two sick babies! I don't know what's worst as a mother, I couldn't really do much besides clean up the puke and comfort the kids afterwards. After a long long couple of days the kids were blessed and now it seems to be all done...at least I hope it is. The kids haven't puked in 15 hours, yes! I'm so happy, tired but happy.

It's a birthday party!

We had a little party for Veronica's birthday. I always wonder why I do this to myself. I tell myself it will be a little get together and it ends up being a huge to do. Veronica had been looking forward to her birthday party all week, ever since daddy mentioned going to buy her pinata and presents. Jeff gets excited and can't keep it from being a surprise. I think the main reason she was excited was knowing that she could eat candy and play with her friends. Our complex has a "courtyard" and so we did it there. It's basically concrete. I'm sure the downstairs apartments appreciated all the kids screaming and running around all afternoon. It was pretty fun, especially when it started to rain while we were finishing up the pinata.

Note: kid seen running behind the pinata...not invited. By the end of the pinata, there were kids that I had never seen before. Oh well.

Had a little birthday bash for Veronica. We invited the neighbor kids and the kids from our ward nursery for a pizza party, pinata and cake.

Blowing out the candles. We practiced a few times before her party.

This is what happened after the pinata was "popped." As they were shaking the last bits of candy out of the pinata some kids were heard saying "ouch, it hit me on the head."
(I was just looking at the video and the big kid with the USC shirt, yeah the one picking up all the candy...also...not invited. I always thought it was funny when the big kids are the ones swiping all the candy and the little ones just stand in awe of candy falling from the skies.)

It's hard to believe

this all started 3 years ago. I still remember looking over to this sweet baby and she was sucking her hand and being very calm, almost as if she was checking out her new environment. I remember feeling so overwhelmed with love for this baby and how my life would never be the same. Needless to say...she didn't stay calm for too long, Happy Birthday sweetheart.

Abuela holding her first grandchild. Abuela has helped so much and has loved Veronica so much, it has been a great blessing.

SoCal Fires

I took this picture, trying to capture the smoke that was blown into the valley by the winds we've been having. This smoke is from the Malibu fire I believe. It has been so stinkin' windy today. I don't really know how I will sleep with all the rattling of the windows and howling.

Here she is again...

Shutting down wherever. Veronica hasn't had a scheduled nap in quite a while now, so every now and then she will just shut down. Check out previous posts under the label "shut down" for more evidence of this behavior. Here she is, I think she was jumping on the couch or something and she just stopped and closed her eyes and fell asleep in this position. That girl can sleep anywhere.

Balance

I was so proud that I made a healthy lunch for Veronica and she was actually willing to eat it I just had to take a picture. She loves whole grain bread, especially wheat, and loves eating the crust. Her favorite part of the loaf is the end piece. Anyway, she's drinking carrot juice, and eating her vegetables.

Have you seen me...

Minnie Mouse is missing. I can't recall the last time I saw her, but THIS is the last picture we have...and I believe it is the last time she was in our home. Sorry Veronica...it was her favorite.

Climbing

David now likes to pull himself up in his crib. Needless to say that I had to drop his crib to a safer level. The little guy might hurt himself if he climbs up and tips over. This picture was taken in the middle of the night, when he should've been sleeping, he's so proud of himself.

Slumber party

Veronica insisted that her friends sleep with her in her bed.

And here she is now....

Ellen Degeneres.
Yep, that's right. Since becoming a stay-at-home mom, one of my responsibilities is to keep up with Ellen and Oprah. AND since NBC studios are practically in our backyard I decided it was time to go to one of her shows. Unfortunately cameras are not allowed so you'll just have to take my word for it. I went with a friend, we left the kids behind for most of the afternoon. That was a treat! There was an Ellen look a like in line with us. Once we were finally let inside the studio it was pretty awesome. I suddenly became very excited and was hoping that she would make it even more awesome by giving us a free ANYTHING. Here's the lame part...Jamie Foxx, who will be edited into the show that I was at, was not there. I guess they taped his part sometime last week. I thought that was lame. They make you dance dance dance and bribe you with free t-shirts. Sadly, as much as I shook my money maker, the oldies were the ones that got all the free t-shirts....because they just look so darn cute trying to dance to Kanye West. It was a lot more intimate of a setup, I guess it looks bigger on television. Ellen is also a lot smaller framed than I thought. I will admit I was star struck when she came up the aisle and I could practically touch her. My friend was sitting in the aisle seat, because she had a fun shirt that would look good on camera. It was fun. I will try to go again, so long as they don't recognize me and kick me out, and maybe the next time there will be a cool celeb there and or a cool giveaway. Also, huge headache afterwards, very loud music and all the screaming and clapping. The show I was at was aired on Wed, 10/03/07.
